Types
of Pronouns
There are several types of pronouns, including:
Personal
pronouns - (I, you, he, she, it, we, they)
They are used as substitute for people or things are
called personal pronouns.
Example: I
am afraid of dogs.
The
oven gets really hot when it heats food.
Possessive
pronouns (my, your, his, her, its, our, their, mine)
They express possession, ownership, origin, relationship,
etc.
Example: That book on the table is mine.
All of the houses in our
society look the same, but ours is
the only one with a garden.
Reflexive
pronouns (myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, ourselves, themselves)
It is used as an object of a verb that refers to the same
person or thing as the subject of the verb.
Example: Priya looked at himself in the mirror.
I like
to cheer myself up with music.
They
made fools of themselves.
Demonstrative
pronouns (this, that, these, those)
They are used to point to specific things
Example: This
is my favorite place.
I
don’t know what that is, but it
definitely isn’t good.

need you to fix these.
Interrogative
pronouns (who, what, which, whom, whose)
They are used to ask questions about unknown people or
things.
Example: Who played the match?
What is an encryption?
Which is the correct
answer?
Indefinite
pronouns (someone, something, somebody, anyone, anywhere, everywhere, nothing)
They doesn’t specifically identify who or what it is
referring to.
Example: This message could have been written by anybody.
Someone ate
my chocolates.
The
water splashed everywhere.
Reciprocal
pronouns (each other, one another)
They are used to show that two or more people or things
are performing an action on each other.
Example: They hugged each other after the game.
The contestants compete against one another in singing completion.
Relative
pronouns (who, whom, whose, which, that)
They introduce relative clauses and connect them to the
main clause, providing additional information about a noun in the sentence.
Example: The person who won the competition is my friend.
The movie that I'm watching is really motivating.
